Riverside BIA Streetscape Master Plan Open House is September 19th
Public Open House & Drop-in | Riverside BIA Streetscape Master Plan on September 19th, 5-7pmRiverside BIA members and the public are invited to join the Riverside BIA Board, the local Councillor, and City staff at a Public Open House to review and to learn additional information about the Riverside BIA Streetscape Master Plan that is currently under development.
The Master Plan will include the following:
Proposed streetscape plans
Potential locations for public art programs and murals
Opportunities for public space enhancement
A general vision for the improvement of the Riverside District BIA
The Open House is drop-in style from 5pm-7pm and will take place inside the Riverside BIA office @ 630 Queen Street East (studio inside Dark Horse Espresso).

New City of Toronto Benches have Arrived in Riverside
The new City of Toronto benches have been installed!
This past week, the City completed the installation of 15 new City of Toronto mini-benches which replaced the aging BIA benches that were removed in spring 2018. This set of new benches better distributes compact seating throughout the Riverside BIA and are property that is maintained and replaced by the City as needed through its Street Furniture programme.
Enjoy the nice weather and the new benches around the neighbourhood.
Kudos to Pizza Nova Riverside for Raising $2,200 for a Great Local Cause!
On Monday, August 20th Pizza Nova opened its doors to a new location on 714 Queen St. East. at Broadview Ave. in Toronto.
To help celebrate the grand opening and share our spirit of community, they served small pizzas for only $2.00 tax with all proceeds from every pizza sold being donated to St. John the Compassionate Mission. On Wednesday, August 29th, Pizza Nova, presented St. John the Compassionate Mission with the $2,200 proceeds at an official cheque presentation ceremony! Read the full article
New Riverside Blog Series Coming Up – Highlighting Local Businesses
A new Riverside BIA Blog Series is coming up and it will feature Riverside’s local business owners and spaces.
The Riverside BIA is again collaborating with Karen Lloyd of k-media (local resident, writer and photographer). Karen has worked with the BIA on a variety of projects, including a blog series profiling all things Riverside. This next blog series will put the spotlight on local business owners and spaces to help get to know them better!

To Residents & Businesses in the vicinity of Queen Garden Centre 771 Queen St East: We will be filming interior and exterior scenes at Queen Garden Centre as follows:
FILMING: August 30th | 7am – 11pm
WEATHER DAY: Aug 31 | 7am – 11pm
Our production vehicles and various pieces of film equipment will be located on:
3 vehicles on Saulter st east side South of Queen beside the Garden Centre.
We will begin reserving the above areas with cones on Aug 29th at 6pm, with vehicles arriving August 30th at 7am, and departing Aug 31th by 11pm.
We would like to accommodate any displaced permit parkers affected by our filming. We will direct you to available parking and/or reimburse your parking receipt. Please contact Location Manager Norman Laco 416 875-8314.

The Ontario BIA Association (OBIAA) announced that Digital Main Street is about to launch across Ontario. Started by the City of Toronto and the Toronto BIA Association (TABIA), Digital Main Street will be live and available through OBIAA to Ontario “main street” businesses starting August 24, 2018. The Digital Main Street Initiative is funded by the Province of Ontario.
Part of the Province’s Main Street Enhancement Initiative, Digital Main Street will help small businesses improve how they use digital tools and techniques to be more successful.
