Chef Eric Wood Behind the Stoves at Maple Leaf Tavern & PORT Restaurant
Toronto & East GTA (November 4, 2014) – Maple Leaf Tavern and PORT Restaurant are pleased to announce the addition of Chef Eric Wood to their leadership team. Chef Wood recently left his year-long outpost at the Beverly Hotel in Toronto.
We are thrilled to have Chef Wood join our team. This partnership will offer a timely addition to our current food & beverage programs”, says Todd Morgan, Principal Partner.
For years PORT Restaurant has transformed the culinary scene East of the city, providing an elegant yet casual dining experience. Chef Wood brings to PORT Restaurant years of experience, which he will use in showcasing a renewed culinary program.
But worry not, as Chef Wood’s ingenuity is not leaving the City. “Maple Leaf Tavern will be a culmination of everything I came to Toronto for, both personally and career wise and I’m really looking forward to putting some of my culinary memories and experiences from crisscrossing North America down onto plates and creating brand new ones as well,” says Chef Wood. “Our goal is to re-create the Maple Leaf Tavern to compliment the community and to stand out as a neigbourhood destination for the east side of the city,” adds Morgan.
Chef Wood’s culinary talents will focus on overseeing the culinary program at PORT and the day to day operations at the Maple Leaf Tavern. Chef Eric will be putting his stamp on the PORT menu in the coming weeks, and developing menus and a team for an early 2015 Launch of the Maple Leaf Tavern.

The Maple Leaf Tavern is a storied 100-year-old East End Toronto landmark. The space is currently undergoing a detailed Restoration. The Maple Leaf Tavern will re-open in 2015 as a North American Tavern occupying the Main and Cellar levels, with short/mid term office spaces available on the second and third floors.

Chef Eric Wood has been responsible for the creation of such concepts as The Beverley Hotel, Hawthorne Food And Drink, FABARNAK, the YellowBelly Group, Eagle Ranch Resort and L’Azia, for all of which he served as Executive Chef and has worked with such industry leaders as Oliver Bonacini, SIRCORP, CHiP Hospitality and Walt Disney World Resorts. Chef Wood lives in Toronto, on the east side, with an aloof old cat, a newborn baby girl and his wonderful and tolerant wife.
