This past long weekend, Danielle & I went on a bike ride from our Leslieville home down to Biidaasige Park. I gotta say it was gorgeous! I realize to a lot of Torontonians these aboriginal names can be quite confusing but what that word means is “sunlight shining towards us”. It was refreshing to see the translations posted along the trails. The trails of course are super smooth brand new asphalt which made the ride lovely. The way they have rerouted the don river is also beautiful. The bridges are breathtaking and the Snowy Owl Playground was bustling with children and their parents. We have been watching them build this as we quite regularly frequent The Keating Channel Pub and Cherry Street Bbq. The street view of the park does not remotely do it justice. It is way better than you think it is! I strongly recommend you going for a ride down there and it would be especially fun if you had young children. This park is a big win for Toronto. Even though the park’s location, being in the east end south of lakeshore, can be a frustrating drive from the west end there is a water shuttle called Toronto’s East-West Water Shuttle that can pick you up from Bathurst or Yonge and take you to Ookwemin Minising (the park).
