Check out the following update from our local Riverside BIA!

Welcome to the Neighbourhood:
Lan Vietnamese Restaurant

Lan Vietnamese Restaurant at 755 Queen Street East celebrated their much-anticipated opening in Riverside on June 23rd and is offering great promotions (Read all about it on our Blog)With traditional Vietnamese dishes, luxurious hand carved furniture, and refined French architecture, LAN Restaurant brings old Hanoi to life right here in Riverside.

Here’s a note from Lan Phuong:
——Hello all the lovely people! I just want to post a reminder for our OPENING DATE JUNE 23rd (Thursday) of LAN Restaurant- 755 QUEEN STREET EAST.

It is very easy and just take me not even a second to write such a reminder, but the feeling of this moment when I am able to write and remind you all about the Opening Date June 23rd is too extreme and overwhelming not just for me, for my husband, but for our whole team, especially after such the longest time of our devotion, of our hard works every second of every single days and nights for exact 12 months in construction and over 18 months in the whole restaurant business process and journey….

Just a bit about us, my husband’s true and deepest passion has always been about FOOD. As to me, I have always had the biggest love for my family back home, and for my most beautiful HA NOI CITY where I was born, as well as where I have had all of the sweetest childhood memories of a life of a “little pink princess”. And so my biggest dream has always been all about finding ways to bring my first and most beautiful country of Vietnam to my second lovely home in Canada. For me, it is also a way I am sending the messages to my parents, my relatives, and my friends back home that I have never forgotten about them, as well as not forgetting the country and the city where I originally came from. Hence, we decided to take on this toughest and hardest journey to combine both my husband’s food passion and the biggest dream of my life. With this longest and most exhausting business journey that me and my husband have taken until now, my biggest and only hope is doing our very best so that we could be able to introduce and make Canadians also fall in love with our most authentic and delicious both Northern and Southern Vietnamese Cuisine, as well as our beautiful Vietnamese culture.

TABIA Launches Digital Main Street

Digital Main Street – www.digitalmainstreet.ca – a new program focused on helping main street businesses connect to digital tools to help them manage and grow their businesses.

On Monday, June 13, the Toronto Association of Business Improvement Areas (TABIA) in collaboration with Google, MasterCard, Rogers, Yellow Pages and Shopify, held their Digital Main Street Launch Party at the Drake Hotel. The Digital Main Street (DMS) initiative is a platform to help businesses, within BIAs, all across Toronto bring their company into the digital age. TABIA and the DMS partners believe that a key factor in becoming and maintaining a successful business, in this day and age, is having a great online presence.

DMS will provide Riverside BIA member businesses with free access to platform to help effectively launch their businesses into the online world and ensure that they are maximizing their online presence. The platform provides many services to businesses:

Digital Assessment
A questionnaire that reviews a business’ online presence. After the assessment, a list of tasks and strategies are provided to help improve online presence

Digital Service Squad
A group of students from George Brown College who have partnered with this initiative to help businesses with any of their DMS Platform and Assessment questions.

Resource Library
Many texts and resources to help improve one’s digital presence

BIAcademy
A module for BIAs with workshops and presentations, to learn strategies and techniques to better improve their areas.

The Riverside BIA will be participating in this initiative and is in the process of testing the DMS platform. Once we are all set up with the platform, we will be extending this opportunity to Riverside businesses.

 Stay tuned for more!!

1)  The Queen/Saulter Good Food Market (right beside the Library) launched June 16

Note From Walk my Dog Toronto

We met at the Riverside EatsnBeats festival, where you either faced off against your adorable pup or our mascot Dr. Jay in a skills test to see who is smarter: you or your dog?! Overall the dogs proved to be smarter with their ability to do tricks in exchange for treats!
We are a dog-walking company that uses a GPS walk tracker to keep you in the loop about your dog’s walks. If you or anyone you know needs our services, mention the EatsnBeats festival and we’ll give one free walk ($20-$30 value).
Check out your pictures here. Let us know if you’d like a higher res version of any of them. And if you want to keep in touch with us, sign up for news at the bottom of our website.
