Leslieville’s pub scene may be small compared to other Toronto ‘hoods, but it’s packed with unique spots serving top-tier food and drinks with local flavour. From fusion small plates to retro vibes and cozy patios, these three pubs are where I like to take friends for a proper East End night out.
Pinkertons Snack Bar
📍 1026 Gerrard St E, near Jones Ave
Pinkertons is all about sharing and mixing it up. Their small plates hit big on flavour, making it perfect for sampling with friends. The pork neck pancakes are crispy and tender, Fausto’s fried chicken is my personal favourite, and the ahi tuna tostada is always fresh and delicious. Their cocktail menu is just as impressive. With inventive drinks and seven types of bao buns to match., Pinkerton’s is a must-visit for fans of cultural fusion food.

Poor Romeo
📍 1029 Gerrard St E, near Jones Ave
Right across the street from Pinkerton’s, if you’re looking for atmosphere, music, and killer cocktails, Poor Romeo has you covered. The retro vibe is infectious, and their cherry bomb cocktail, with bourbon, muddled cherry, and fresh lime, is a personal fave. But it’s the food that really puts the place in my top 3: a classic smash patty cheeseburger, homemade queso, crispy chips, and a fried chicken sandwich that’ll have you coming back. Great for a casual but memorable East End night out. Don’t forget buck-a-shuck Wednesdays if you’re an oyster lover like myself.

Eulalie’s Corner Store
📍 1438 Gerrard St E, right across from the Ashdale library
This tucked-away gem on Ashdale Ave feels like Leslieville’s best-kept secret. The menu and specials change often, but Eulalie’s consistently delivers some of the best food Leslieville offers. Staff are friendly and the big patio is perfect for warm evenings. Don’t miss the deep-fried “popcorn” broccoli, it’s addictive and will definitely have you coming back. The crispy buttermilk fried chicken sandwich is my go-to. Cozy vibes and great food make Eulalie’s a real East End staple, and my personal favourite.
