ONTARIO PLEIN AIR SOCIETY
‘Visions in the Open Air’
Nov. 20 – December 3, 2014
Reception: Sat. Nov. 22nd, 1-5pm
RSVP
Approximately 100 paintings, done on location, by members of the Ontario Plein Air Society.
Each of these 28 OPAS artists paints in their own unique style. The subjects vary rom landscapes, urban-scapes, country-scapes, harbours and much more.
This exhibition shows that new twists on traditional styles such as post-impressionism, impressionism, Fauve, Canadian Impressionism are emerging in new artists as well as more seasoned artists.
Don’t expect to see your grandmother’s art on these walls. You’ll see paintings ranging from highly realistic to almost abstract. In all cases, the work is painted sitting right in front of the subject, rain or shine.
Many of the artists will be on hand to talk about their work during the Saturday reception. Also on Saturday, we will be giving out the prizes for the top works in our show, as judged by Dalibor Dejanovic, a splendid plein air pastel painter.
OPAS is a young organization, formed 5 years ago by Zan Barrage. For the last 3 years it has been run by Keith Thirgood and a volunteer Board of Directors. Its mandate is to promote plein air
painting in Ontario. The Society is a non-commercial group dedicated to serving its artist members and educating the general public about plein air painting.
